The Smart City Plan of New Town envisages use of drones in monitoring delivery of public services for events that are not regular. For example, monitoring of crowds in Eco Park on special days like New Year's Day, water logging in streets after heavy rains, keeping unwanted posters away from public walls, monitoring dumping of construction waste and putting evidence on net. Most of all, it can act as a 'baywatch", it can keep an eye on the bank of the huge and deep lake of Eco Park so that nobody, especially children, can go to the water. Aesthetic aerial photography is a bonus with its 4D camera (4D means resolution higher than HD video).  I, along with Sovan Chatterjee Assistant Engineer and S Guha, OSD (Electrical) worked late hours yesterday trying to assemble it and get it to run. YouTube tutorials helped us a lot. We had to buy a normal-to-micro USB converter cable junction, a US-to-Indian plug converter and use my iPhone and Apps from Apple Store. Charging up the batteries and connecting and calibrating were more complex than we thought but once we got the method right it didn't seem so problematic. Finally, I got it up and flying this morning (see the YouTube link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHUyp37DXC8 to see its maiden flight this morning)

Tomorrow morning we will commission the "SmartHidco" drone (name coined by us in the registration process) at the Eco Park Office control room and train up an operator.
