Fertigation

I learnt of a new term yesterday. Fertigation. General Manager of Andrew Yule helping us in the raising of the Tea Garden in Eco Park explained that in the drip irrigation system installed in the 3 acre tea garden in Eco Park, they have installed a machine at the pumping system that mixes dissolved fertilisers in the water pumped into the drip irrigation pipes. This, he said, is fertigation: fertiliser application to tree roots through drip irrigation network. Here is a picture of the machine set up.

I also noticed that the tea plants in the tea garden of Eco Park had started taking shape. A photo on my mobile:
A bit of Darjeeling in Eco Park: taking shape
I also told Abin De, Executive Engineer NKDA, to see if a replica of the toy train and Ghoom railway station could be created nearby. He has planned to make a trip to Darjeeling shortly.
