Delegation for Industry

Hon'ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee took a meeting today to discuss ways in which procedures can be simplified for entrepreneurs wishing to set up industries. Besides Finance Minister, many other Ministers and Chief Secretary and several Principal Secretaries were present. With reference to Urban Development, it was decided that industries seeking exemptions will be given Urban Land Ceiling clearance within 15 days while for sanction of building plans, the procedure of referring tall buildings to Development Authorities would be delegated to respective departments for government companies/ govt sponsored companies.

  1. Monorail plan looks very good. Please implement it on fast track and all the roadblocks should be cleared before starting the implementation otherwise it will also face the same problem which metro projects are facing. So many infra projects are in-process but very few of them are nearing completion. I feel kolkata should also have single body for implementing infra projects like MMRDA in mumbai which works much coordinated way with overall development authority.

  2. Dear Sir, will you please consider publishing a overall transport plan for Newtown and Saltlake? We hear about Metro (Garia-Airport, East-West), Monorail, Elevated LRT, Bus routes, Electric vehicle for short transfers etc..somehow do not get an overall feel of how all those integrate to offer a planned transport system for a smart city. I am sure there is a plan (which may be evolving over years), but sharing current thoughts in a plan will be good.
Also, looks like a big mass housing like Subhobrishti is ignored in MonoRail. Routing a mass transport though the road in front of Subhobrishti connecting with AA-II which could help the economic viability of the project for large number of commuters which is being planned a residential hub in AA-III.

  3. Monorail is good for connecting the suburban rail (Ultadanga station to Sec V and New town). It will be better if it can be extended further to Kolkata Station and then Shyambazar more. Then Kolkata station can share some load of the suburban rail traffic. In Shayambazar this line can be further integrated to existing metro.

    1. The metro project is being done by IR and there are no apparent roadblocks in the new town stretch - how does this have anything to do with a monorail in PPP model following a complete different alignment. Please get your facts straight before commenting. Also, try to follow some basic etiquette and mind your language.

    2. you people bait (including debasis sir ) complete this project within 3-4 years ,I will apologize in this forum and personally two both of you.No gov. official can not work with out the consent and well wishes from the local govt.
And IR is not enemy of kolkata ,so that's why they are delaying the project.
Why there is no post on Metro rail project in this forum I can't understand. Is it because it is handled by IR or it is not going to bring personal glory to the local body because the credit will be taken by the central govt. If it will be completed it will be beneficiary who are not gathering in and around saltlake and newtown area whose numbers are much larger comparison to those in and around saltlake and newtown area.
First give some details about the dream which you are shown for along time to the mass.

  5. @Subhadip Sadhukhan: It appears that you have a grievance that metro project isn't complete. There is a proper way to put forward the same but not in the way it has been done using unparliamentary language in the blog of a senior government functionary who commands great respect for his hard work and commitment to a better Bengal. This forum is not for debating issues of ideological differences or political affiliations. In case the latter is the reason for your unwarranted comments I would personally request you to avoid posting in these blogs as there are other forums for the same.

    1. I second. Irrespective of the comment was meant towards pointing individual or not, for years (rolling over one government to another) this forum had acted responsibly showing great respect and appreciation for the unquestionable effort of the founder and his relentless effort to bring in transparency and visibility to administrative functions in public domain. Please do not bring politics here.

  6. I personally admire Debashish Sen for his work and being a follower and a citizen of the city I request you to issue the tender and start the project.............. KPMG had done a detailed work so no problem of disturbances and monorail does not faces the problem like Metrorail so it will be easy to finish the project fast

  7. Why is the 3rd phase terminating at City Centre-II (Swissotel hotel) ? Shouldn't it continue till the new international bus terminus instead ?

  10. I feel that is a given. Because in the previous articles, I vaguely remember that the new bus terminus (near city center-2) was designed keeping monorail and other modes of transportation in mind!!
    Super excited about this though...!!:)
