Citizen Engagement: Sit and Draw

With the help of Artist Ashok Mallik - himself a resident of New Town - we organised a Sit and Draw competition today. There was a huge turn-out with about 200 participants and their parents on the Sunday morning. Prizes will be given on 14th April, in course of the Barshobaran Utsab (14-15 April) at Clock Tower Plaza near Home Town.  There will be talent hunt, food festival (- Paramount, Lalit Great Eastern, Tea Trove and many more - ), Bangla Band (- Rongin, Baul -), play events (- Segway, monowheel, skating - ) and lots of fun to usher in the Nabobarsho. Few pics:

  1. "Chill out in Sultry Summer" news article reminded me of the idea we discussed first in this blog post for Eco Park:

  2. Of course these initiatives are unique tourist attractions and should come up, but its saddening to see such news which says that the green cover in Kolkata has reduced to only 4.79% now, where as the desired level is 20%. Are we not missing the larger goal, and can we do something phenomenal which can save the city?

I think we need to plant and grow forests instead of just trees to make up for the irreparable loss to the city.
