Webcasting

Panchise Baisakh, 9th May, there will be Kobi Pranam at Rabindra Tirtha from 7 am onwards. Many distinguished performers will pay their tribute to Rabindranath through songs, recitation etc. I am trying to do a live webcast of the event subject to technical feasibility. Subhankar Debnath, System Mananger (IT) Hidco has been trying various options. It seems that normal digital cameras or handycams are not suitable since there is no instantaneous encoding of signals: these are designed for local storage on memory card and not for live streaming. So special encoder equipment is required. He is trying to solve the problem through webcams but these cannot capture a stage performance properly for poor field of view and low resolution. Let us see if we can get the equipment on loan or otherwise.

  1. Connect your handycam's FireWire port to your laptop and then use free app like UStream.tv to cast live.
You may do this directly from your iPhone or Android if you have good wifi.

    1. Sure. There are several web-casting sites available on the net that would let you webcast for free or for a nominal price. If your handycam doesn't have FireWire port; you may still plugin your HDMI connectors. But the software (encoder + broadcaster) is the key. The websites generally provide the software.
      All the best!

  3. I think that would be so cool to webcast something like this. You would get to be apart of the select individuals who are involved with entrepreneur experience. It would be so fascinating to hear and learn from so many professionals. I think it would be awesome! http://eventstream.ca
