Yesterday, I went on a brief inspection with few enginners of NKDA to review some projects of New Town. A brief update:
1. Bus stop: Work in progress on MAR, near 1st intersection. After seeing how it turns out, more will be built.

3. Park in AA-ID: Boundary wall complete, sentry box complete, land levelling works going on
4. International Swimming Pool in BB Block, AA-I: Boundary wall complete, layout design details being formulated
5. Large Park in AA-I: I saw the site; I'll ask Principal Consultant to make an environment-friendly lay out.

Other on going works:

(a) Rabindra Tirtha Complex: Racing Against Time
(b) Eco Park: Tropical Forest started, Boundary Wall started, Master Plan just received from Ar Pradip Sachadeva of Delhi

  1. Sir, I have a feeling that the plan is not taking any requirement for cycle tracks into cognizance. I think we still have time to develop proper cycling tracks and I am sure we dont want to see cycles moving with fast moving transport as is the case now. Regards Jayanta

  2. Sir, It seems most of these activities are in AA I and AA II.
Just asking why AA III is far beyond in terms of infrastructure development compared to its counterparts. Do we have similar plans for AA III also?

  3. @Atanu: Road works in AA-III ongoing; Sewerage lines being laid; Major Arterial Road in AA-III approaching completion

@JP: These were not conceived in the Master plan and now right-of way is not enough. But I'll have it re-examined

    1. Sir, thanks for the update!!!

Could you tell a rough estimate time when cooperative plots in Action Area III-B will be handed over to the owners?

Also, again a rough time-line when the Internal roads will be completed here?

      Thanking you with regards,
      Sukrity.

  4. Action III will take more time, because it started last. One must note that road cannot be started before underground utilities like sewerage, water etc are completed

  5. Sir,
Appreciate the updates. Very relieved to know that things are not as bad as I thought.
I assume that with such a large project and so many areas involved , it is going to be a balancing act, managing your resources.

Any updates regarding the Financial Hub?

Also, it was good to see some statements regarding the "Syndicates" both from Hidco and the police. Wonder why the politicians are silent though ? Also hope that this menace is curbed at the earliest.

  6. @ArunM: "*Any updates regarding the Financial Hub?*" - Yes, looks like Financial Hub is planned to get kick-started by second week of March with a mega event....HIDCO floated multiple tenders for managing and advertising the event/hub and the website quotes:

"The West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (WBHIDCO), a Government of West Bengal Undertaking, is currently developing an International Financial Hub spread over a 25 acre cluster (in the first phase), the first of its kind in Eastern India at New Town, Kolkata. A major step towards the economic development of the region, the International Financial Hub will be fully equipted to attract the banks/financial institutions whose participation will place the State firmly on the global business map. The foundation stone of the International Financial Hub will be laid at a high profile event slated sometime in the second week of March 2012. The event will attract participation from top bankers and leaders in the financial/business arena besides leading political and film personalities."

  7. Good news. Thanks Avick. Looks like HIDCO is finally getting serious. Lets hope that this time there is actual progress in getting the major companies/Banks to participate and invest.

  8. Hi,

Could anyone guide as to how one can verify the authenticity the genuineness of land in Rajarhat which is not allotted by HIDCO. Is these a department in HIDCO office where we can find out if the land is owned by HIDCO or private parties? How can we get the acquisition plan of HIDCO from which we can verify the same?

  9. Dear sir
I have a HIG individual plot in Action area AAIIIB.The plots in this area were supposed to have been handed over in 2009.I had sent an email in sept 2011 to WBHIDCO re this and i got a reply that these plots will not be handed over for at least 2 years which makes it end of 2013 or early 2014.It would be helpful if regular updates are given in WBHIDCOs website as to the extent of infrasructural work has been completed in action area AAIIIB.Can you give a tentative date when the plots in AAIIIB will be handed over?Recently i had the opportunity to visit the said area in question but at least to my untrained eyes i could see much evidence of infrastructure work going on in AAIIIB,all i could see was a vast strestch of land full of vegetation and debris.Seeing this i was quite disappointed and is now having some fears regarding the possession date of these plots in AAIIIB.Can u please give your comment and assuage the fears of the plot holders?
